Where's the power button on this thing?
A new UK survey highlights a surprising school-readiness gap: nearly one in three preschool-aged children don’t know how to use a physical book. Some even try to swipe the pages like a screen. Yes, we're serious.
Teachers also reported that many kids struggle with basic self-care skills, raising concerns about how heavy screen use may be shaping early development.
As we've previously reported, research backs this up. High screen time in young children has been linked to delayed language, social, and motor skills, as well as challenges with emotional regulation.
Please, if you teach your kid anything in life, teach them how to open a book.

📖 Speaking of reading
More states are moving to ban “three-cueing,” a reading method that teaches children to guess words using pictures or context instead of sounding them out. This past year, at least eight states introduced or passed bills limiting the approach, adding to 11 states that acted in the past two years. See where your state stands.
🤖 AI can predict preemies' health journey
A new Stanford-led study suggests doctors may soon be able to better predict health risks for premature babies using routine blood samples taken at birth. By analyzing data from more than 13,000 preemies, researchers identified biological patterns linked to major complications affecting the brain, lungs, eyes, and gut. The team created a metabolic “risk index” that predicted complications with over 85% accuracy.

Here’s a Question
According to a recent survey, nearly 70% of millennials turn on subtitles while watching movies/tv shows, so now we gotta know what you all do.
Do you use subtitles?
Last week, we asked if you care when your kid swears, and a little over 40% of you said, "Yes, of course!" while "A little, but it's not a huge deal," came in a close second. "Depends on the word," came in third.
