It's 2026, please stop!!!!!
2025 saw some interesting parenting trends pop up, but not all of them are making the cut for 2026.
According to parents.com, there are five parenting trends we need to say goodbye to in the new year. First on the list? The ChatGPT parent. Recent data has shown that some parents trust ChatGPT more than actual doctors, which is a little concerning.
Second? The preemptive photo trend. Haven't heard of it? You've probably seen it. It's when a parent posts several happy photos of their kids doing various activities, and then slap it with the caption, "Posting this in case my kid tells a therapist one day about his rough childhood...”
As Robyn Koslowitz, PhD, points out, a photo can only capture so much. "A toddler can smile on Space Mountain and also fear a parent’s temper at dinner. A teen can pose with cousins and still feel alone and unseen."
Check out the rest of the list here.
Did You Hear
👼 AI has chosen the perfect baby name...
...and surprisingly it's not "Em Dash." According to the numbers, the perfect baby name is Elara. Why? Because it's a "soft, vowel-forward" name with no baggage attached to it. Of course, that will soon change when it becomes known as the ChatGPT name.
🚬 This photo of Jackie Kennedy is going viral
A throwback photo of Jackie Kennedy smoking a cigarette while pregnant gained a lot of attention on Reddit. As the top comment points out, Jackie's baby ended up passing away two days after birth due to Infant Respiratory Distress Syndrome. At the time, women were actually encouraged to smoke while pregnant.
🫁 Speaking of terrible advice that only impacts women
Have you heard of the Lung Float Test? It's an exam meant to determine whether a baby was born dead or alive, and it has been used against women who were accused of murder. Find out how the test is supposed to work (and learn why it's completely unreliable) here.

This mom says you can stop them with these three steps.
👎 The most hated baby names
Two baby name consultants joined together to reveal which baby names they can't stand. First on the list? August. You can see if your baby made their list, or you know, don't.

Yes, black-eyed peas made the list, but so did… donuts?
Things You Need (2026 skin transformation edition)

Our resident smart person, Dr. Kiyah Duffey, was nice enough to share some of her beauty essentials to hopefully get your 2026 off to a glowing start.
Looking for facial sunscreen? Kiyah says this Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel is the best.
This is the only daily cleanser she uses, and it works for all skin types!
Trying to find an eye cream that actually works? Kiyah says the LilyAna Naturals Eye Cream is the "most amazing" eye cream she's ever used. The results are backed by science!
Finally, this CHARMZONE Anti Aging Repair Cream is luxurious without breaking the bank.

Cornbread for Your Black-Eyed Peas!
As a society, we eat black-eyed peas exactly once a year, and that special day is coming up. This cornbread is the perfect pea partner.
Ingredients:
11 1/4 ounces (2 1/4 cups) cornmeal
1 1/2 cups sour cream
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
Instructions:
1. Adjust oven racks to lower middle and middle positions and heat oven to 450° place 10 inch cast-iron skillet (my favorite one) on middle rack and heat for 10 minutes.
2. in a large bowl, whisk together cornmeal sour cream and milk; set aside. When skillet is hot, add oil and continue to heat until just smoking, about 5 minutes.
3. Using potholders (skillet will be hot), remove skillet from oven, carefully add butter, and gently swirl to incorporate. Pour hot oil, butter mixture into cornmeal mixture and whisk to incorporate. Whiskey, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, followed by eggs.
4. Quickly scrape batter into hot skillet and smooth the top. Bake on middle rack until the top begins to crack and sides are golden brown, 12 to 15 minutes, rotating skillet halfway through baking.
5. Let bread cool in skillet on wire rack for 5 minutes.
6. Remove bread from pan and let cool on rack for at least 10 minutes before serving.
Note: I’m rarely this prepared, and often don't let it fully cool outside the skillet before serving. It's often brought to the table in the warm skillet and trust me when I say that the bread is still delicious. Serve with butter and, if you have a sweet tooth, honey.
