Mattel's embarrassing "Wicked" mistake
TOP OF MIND

Don't make me turn this plane around!
We are entering the busiest travel period of the year with Thanksgiving just weeks away and Christmas right behind it. Typically, the busiest day to fly is the Sunday after Thanksgiving, with around 3 million passengers scrambling through the airport.
We're getting stressed just thinking about it!
But thankfully, there's an easy way to fight stress by being prepared!
The important bits
After scouring the web, we've come up with the five best travel tips and tricks to follow this holiday season.
1. Underpack for you, overpack for your kids: Co-founder of travel tech company Faye, Daniel Green, says he's learned over the years that it's better to have more than you need for your kids to make it through the trip.
"I’m more than willing to underpack for me, but overpack for kids with too many diapers, too many changes of clothes, and too many toys and snacks," he told Parents.com, adding that he can always reuse a shirt if needed.
2. Enter battle with the right stroller: If you're traveling by air this holiday season, it's best to have a lightweight stroller. One of our favorites is the GB Pockit. It was named the most compact stroller by the Guinness Book of World Records, folding up in two easy steps. It's carry-on compliant and easily fits in the overhead bins.
3. Try to book a red-eye: It might be too late for this tip, but purchasing tickets for red-eye flights is a travel hack every parent should know. Flying at night aligns with a child's natural sleep cycle, which means less crying and more sleeping!
4. Break out the tablets: You've probably heard us talking about limiting your child's screen time, but when you're stuck in a tube full of strangers 35,000 feet in the air? Parenting laws don't exist. You bring that tablet and make sure it's stacked with your kids' favorite movies, games, shows, etc.
5. Make sure your kids are frequent fliers: Once you start buying your child a seat—whether due to their turning 2 or for convenience—sign them up for a frequent flyer account to start earning miles. There's no minimum age requirement, so enroll them now to max their earnings! Some airlines even allow families to pool their miles.
DID YOU HEAR
🧙♀️ This truly is wicked
One of the biggest movies coming out this holiday season is the new musical film, Wicked. The family-friendly movie is expected to be a huge hit with everyone, and toy company Mattel is trying to capitalize on this by selling special edition Wicked dolls at Target and Walmart. There's just one major problem: parents have noticed that the packaging actually directs people to an adult film website instead of the official "Wicked" movie link.
🤥 It's gotta be true! I heard it on TikTok!
According to a new study, teens are exposed to a new conspiracy theory every week on social media, with 20% of them being exposed every single day. Some of the narratives include the Earth being flat and the debunked 2020 election fraud. And while teens don't believe every conspiracy theory they see, 81% of the teens who participated in the study admitted they've believed one or more. This has led some parents to push for media literacy courses in schools.
😚 Don't let strangers kiss your baby
Dr. Karan Raja is sounding the alarm to his millions of followers. He recently posted a video warning parents to not let their friends, family or strangers kiss their newborn. He says newborns’ immune systems are “undergoing a software update” and are very immature and have far fewer defenses against illness than ours do. Additionally, their blood-brain barrier isn't fully developed, so even mild illnesses like the common cold can be deadly.
👌 IUDs are still "very safe" to use
A new study caused panic in some women after it found that women who used IUDs had a 40% higher chance of developing breast cancer. That number sounds shockingly high, but doctors are pointing out that it sounds scarier than it actually is. For women in the U.S., this would increase their breast cancer risk from 1 in 204 to 1.4 in 204. Read more here.
😓 Should you let your kids quit?
And why is it so hard to do so? Read all about it here. Spoiler: the problem might be with you.

HERE’S A QUESTION
Will you be traveling this holiday season? |
Last week, we asked you what's been your favorite age in life, and around 40% of you said "25," but age "30" was a very close second.
RECALLS
A lot of butter
Costco was forced to recall nearly 80,000 pounds of butter, but not because there's anything wrong with the actual product.
They had to issue the recall because the label failed to mention there was milk in the butter, which can pose an allergy risk for some.
Although, most people are pointing out that all butter has dairy, unless specified that it's dairy-free or plant-based.
One X user joked, "Next they’ll recall beef that might contain cow."
