Thanks a lot, Eisenhower!
Remember those fitness tests back in school? You either proudly showed off your physical prowess, or you dreaded the day, and maybe even begged your mom to write you a note to get out of it, not wanting all your classmates to watch as you barely achieved 5 sit-ups and took 20 minutes to run the mile.

Well, tell your kids to gear up, because that wonderful rite of passage is back!

President Trump has reinstated the Presidential Fitness Test, which was first established under the Eisenhower administration in the 1950s. It was discontinued by Obama in 2013 and replaced with a broader "Youth Fitness Program," focusing more on living a healthy lifestyle.

The important bits
We don't know which exercises will be part of the new test, or when it'll be hard launched across the country, but we can speculate based on the original test.

It was traditionally conducted once or twice a year for students ages 10 to 17, and included drills like push-ups, the back-and-forth PACER running test and the dreaded one-mile run.

You may remember that students who placed at or above the 85th percentile on all exercises were eligible for the Presidential Fitness Award, which Trump plans to also reinstate.

But unless that award comes with a Nintendo Switch and some Labubu dolls, we can't imagine kids caring all that much.

What's it all mean?
We know that children’s health is in decline, but whether or not bringing back the P.E. tests of our youth will be the solution to that is still to be determined. After all, data shows that the adult obesity rate rose from about 13% in 1960 to about 34% in 2008, when the test was still being conducted.

💉 Childhood vaccine exemption rates hit record high
In the 2024–25 school year, 4.1% of kindergartners (around 138,000 kids) had vaccine exemptions, up from 3.7% the year before. Nearly all exemptions were nonmedical, citing religious or personal beliefs. Completely unrelated, 2025 has logged the highest number of measles cases in 33 years!

Here’s a Question

According to new research, a baby's gender might not be as random as we previously believed. So, we ask you…

Last week, we asked if you were cleaning certain items in your house (ceiling fan blades, cleaning tools, etc) monthly, and around 65% of you said, "Some, but not all" while the other 30% said, "Nope!"

Listen Up

This week on the pod, Kiyah talks with Zac Garthe — patent attorney, tech founder, and deeply engaged dad — about what it really takes to build a business while raising a family.

In this episode: They discuss balance, the importance of building solid support structures (it takes a village, people!), and how parenting influences entrepreneurial decisions (and vice versa).

Toy Kitchen Sets
Nearly 200,000 toy kitchen sets have been recalled after a toddler was tragically strangled to death while using the toy.

The company, Backyard Kids, said the play kitchens pose a risk of serious injury or death to young children who climb or crawl through the back opening.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission added that kids’ clothing can get caught on accessory hooks, like those for toy pots and pans.
