Regret Your Baby’s Name? You’re Not Alone

TOP OF MIND
It's hot. Have you noticed? And supposedly, it's going to get even hotter. How can you protect your children?
The important bits:
In Arizona, sidewalk temperatures have surpassed 160 degrees Fahrenheit. To put that in perspective, you can boil water at 212 degrees. There were reports of hospitals filling up due to second-degree contact burns, and unfortunately a lot of those patients were young children.
Beyond making sure your kids have shoes on before running out of the house, what can you do? A lot. Tips include staying hydrated, dressing lightly, planned rest periods, and limiting outdoor exposure during the hottest times of the day, typically between 2:00 and 6:00 pm.
Also, always check your backseat before leaving your vehicle. According to the Department of Transportation, nearly 1,000 children have died of vehicular heatstroke since 1990. And 87% of those children were under the age of three.
What's it all mean?
Extreme heat is scary, but with a little bit of preparedness, you can beat it.
DID YOU HEAR
From hot to cold
For years, doctors have suspected cold air could greatly reduce children's croup symptoms, and now a new study is proving them correct. Dr. Johan Siebert and others at Geneva Children's Hospital in Switzerland tested this theory in a real life setting and found of 59 children who were exposed to chilly air, 49% had substantial improvement in symptoms after just 30 minutes. More research needs to be conducted, but it's a pretty cool first step.
I named you that?
According to the experts, between 11-30% of parents regret the name they chose for their baby. The most common reasons include naming their kid after a celebrity, feeling rushed to make a decision and the baby not looking like the name they chose.
The last reason might explain why Kylie Jenner seemed to instantly regret naming her son Wolf.

Help! My kid is covered in sharpie!
Have you ever been preparing dinner while your children play in their room, and you notice how eerily quiet it is? Yeah, it's probably because they covered themselves in sharpie.
But don't let a sharpie mishap ruin your life. Moms on TikTok are sharing their clever ways to get sharpie off skin. Tips include coconut oil and a certain makeup remover.
Don't let your kid see this
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend gave a tour of their home, including their children's bedrooms, and it's absolutely ridiculous in the best way possible.
A DOSE OF GOOD
Just remember, when children seem the least lovable, it means they need the most love.

RECALLS
Philips Avent Baby Monitors... you know the ones with the full-color display? Two models are affected: the SCD630 and SCD843.
What happened?
The lithium-ion batteries in the parent unit can actually overheat when the unit is being charged. There have been no reports of significant fires or injuries, but the company did receive 23 incident reports, and seven of those reports included minor injuries. So far, all the incidents have come from Europe.
What should you do?
If you have a Philips Monitor, go here to see if your monitor is affected. If so, stop using it immediately. This is a voluntary recall and Avent is offering full refunds. They can be contacted here or here.
In the meantime, you might have to go old school and do the start and stop. That’s when you stop doing whatever you are doing every five seconds because you think you hear the baby. Unless you're already on child number two or three... then you only react to screams of bloody murder.
Also being recalled:
Cookies from Trader Joe's! The Almond Windmill Cookies and the Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond Cookies are being recalled because they may contain rocks. Yes, rocks.
What does it say about us if we're still willing to eat them? 🤦
